Introducing the Waldorf Streichfett String Synthesizer – a new, sleek, and compact string synthesizer that draws inspiration from the vintage string synthesizers of the 1970s-1980s. The Streichfett String Synthesizer features a dual sound engine that efficiently processes both polyphonic string sections and monophonic solo sections, allowing users to fine-tune their tone to create unique and varied sounds.
Dual Sound Engine
The Streichfett String Synthesizer is equipped with a dual sound engine that features a fully polyphonic strings section and an eight-voice solo section. The ensemble effect adds a lubricating effect to the string section, while the effects section allows for adjustable phaser and reverb. The animate effect can be used to modulate the string registration, enabling users to create spectacular sound morphs.
The Streichfett String Synthesizer’s solo section offers presets such as bass, e-piano, clavi, synth, and Pluto sounds. However, these presets have little to do with the actual sound produced, which is a shimmering and slightly percussive sound that blends well with the string section. The monophonic solo section is equipped with a dedicated tremolo and a switchable envelope generator with variable sustain settings and attack/decay (release) function.
Memory and Programmability
The Waldorf Streichfett String Synthesizer is fully programmable, with three sets of four memory locations. This feature allows users to save and select up to twelve of their own sound settings. The interface is simple and easy to comprehend, but it controls a complex sound engine capable of delivering rich and creamy pads unlike any other instrument.
The Streichfett String Synthesizer features controls such as a volume pot, organic preset select, crescendo and release pots, a 3-state octave switch (base/both/8va), and an ensemble effect pushbutton. The solo section has organic solo sound select pot, tremolo pot, 3-state split switch (splitpoint low/mid/layer), 2-state sustain switch, and a balance pot with a center detent. The effect section has a 3-state switch (chorus/phase/animate), effect depth pot, and a 3-state switch for memory bank position (A, B, C). It also includes four pushbuttons for program number (1 to 4) and full MIDI/USB control.
The Streichfett String Synthesizer is equipped with stereo audio out (left/stereo, right/mono), headphone out, USB, MIDI in/out, and a power input.
In summary, the Waldorf Streichfett String Synthesizer is a versatile and powerful string synthesizer that delivers unique and varied sounds in a sleek and compact design. It is perfect for musicians who want to create rich and creamy pads or shimmering and slightly percussive sounds that blend well with the string section. With its programmability and memory functions, it is an excellent addition to any musician’s arsenal.
